This course is term time only. Monday 10am - 1pm (15 weeks)
Explore the world of flowers and floristry in this hands-on course. You'll learn the fundamental skills used by florists and gain confidence creating your own stunning floral arrangements and designs.
This floristry course combines theory with hands-on practical activities, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills and confidence in floral design. You'll work independently and sometimes in pairs, depending on the project.
Flowers and materials are provided for use during class, and on some occasions you may be able to take your finished arrangements home. Your tutor will advise when this is possible.
Floristry Award - Level 1
The course is made up of two units:
- Safe and effective working practices in land-based industries
- Assemble basic floral designs
Entry Requirements
- There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, as part of the funding requirements, all learners will be asked to complete a short English and maths assessmennt.
How will I be assessed?
- This course contains practical assessments as well as written assessments.
- There is an online safety exam which is completed in lesson as part of Unit 201
Where will this course take me?
This qualification aims to enable learners to develop basic skills in flower arranging craft. It will provide learners with underpinning knowledge of the craft process and basis for progression into further study in floristry.
On the course, the learners will learn how to use materials, tools and equipment correctly and safely while gradually developing a portfolio of their flower arranging designs.

How much will it cost?
You may be eligible for government funding if:
- You are aged 19+
- You live in the UK
- You are employed and earning less than £26,800 per annum (or £30,491 if you live in certain CB/PE postcodes)
OR
- you are in receipt of certain benefits
If you are not eligible for funding, a course fee would be payable. This can be paid in instalments, paid via invoice by an Employer or you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan personally.

If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, there is a course fee of £495*.
This fee will cover all costs associated for the duration of the course, including flowers and materials. You are required to provide your own apron & table covering.
