Harvey Hubbell's latest feature-length documentary, "Hopeville: How to Win the Reading Wars," dives into the state of the US illiteracy crisis, and how a growing body of work called The Science of Reading can enact real change for 95% of all learners. This isn't a movie, this is a movement!

Meet the Director

Harvey Hubbell V is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and social entrepreneur whose lean-forward approach to creating educational and socially conscious media is defined by seeing the world through a different lens.
For almost three decades, Harvey's media company, Captured Time Productions, has created feature length documentaries and short form projects that have captured almost 60 festival awards, including four Emmys.

Harvey partners with master educators, neuroscientists and cultural influencers to create evidence based educational content to give teachers, students and communities the tools and knowledge needed for today's challenging educational and social environments. Creating media that frames learning as a different experience for each person helps educate all of us.
Hopeville takes 25 years of knowledge and footage and tells the true story of literacy in America. The scientist have done the research and have proven what methods work using evidence-based practices. Yet, these practices are not found in 70% of classrooms in the United States.
It's time we take that data, and implement life-changing policies in classrooms across America. This isn't a movie, this is a movement!
