MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU! Come join the Florida Wiener Dog Derby with Riverfest on Saturday May 4th 2024 at Curtis Hixon Park in lovely downtown Tampa right on the Riverwalk! The LARGEST WIENER DOG DERBY AND GATHERING IN THE GALAXY!!!!
Any and all dachshunds are encouraged to register for 1 of 8 divisions to race:
AA Puppy
Ween Teen
Awesome Adult
Fantastic Frosty Flyer
Super Senior
Chariots of Fire 🔥(Wheelie pups)
Courageous & Challenged (blind/deaf)
Wiener Wanna-Be (mixed & dogs under 35 pounds).
Trophies, medals and prizes for our top 3 finishers in each division. Each champion will race in the final for the grand championship and 6 foot tall super trophy! Our grand champion will then race for the overall Florida Championship title to race in the National Dachshund race in Findlay Ohio September 2024.
We also have several ALL BREED FUN CONTESTS WHICH INCLUDE: costume contest, timed treat sniffing contest (best nose), Speed Trap (single racer speed measurement), Bad 2 da Bone obedience contest, Tail Wag contest (best tail) and our most popular BEST KISSER contest!
You MUST register on line to race to secure your race position. Fun contest tickets can be purchased day of event. Race positions always sell out as each division only has 24 available spaces. All proceeds from this event benefit our partner rescues: DARE Dachshund Adoption Rescue & Education and Skyway Dachshund Rescue.
We will also have our popular Art Auction with popular wiener dog inspired art and the GRAND RAFFLE with prizes from several local restaurants, entertainment, shops, pet supply stores, theme parks, doggy stuff, adult spirits and much much much more! We have so many prizes we do two pulls for winners: one at 1pm and another at 3pm.
You do not need to be present to win but you must work with our volunteers for pick up.
Parking is either street metered, private lot or city garage maintained. We are only one part of the large Riverfest event. Enjoy music, food and vendors all day Saturday during and after the derby! This includes hot air balloons Saturday night after our champion is crowned.
