About this Event
Join us Nov. 1-3 for an enriching weekend in Pensacola! With scholars, historians and artists, we’ll explore the dynamic past and present of a city that was once the capital of West Florida and is now known as the cradle of Naval Aviation and the home of the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron. Below is a snapshot of some of the activities we have planned:

- A visit to the site where the first American flag flew in Florida
- A behind-the-scenes tour of the Pensacola Museum of History led by Robert Overton, Jr., executive director of the University of West Florida Historic Trust
- An exploration of St. Michael’s Cemetery, one of Florida’s two oldest cemeteries, led by UWF archaeologist Margo Stringfield
- The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, a juried art show that draws exhibitors from throughout country
- A tour of Palafox Street, named one of America’s Top 10 Great Streets by the American Planning Association
- A thrilling look at the Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show
- An exclusive reading of John Appleyard’s work at the Pensacola Little Theatre
- Dinner at a spot on the Mississippi Blues Trail in the historic Belmont-DeVilliers neighborhood
