Every Indigenous person in the US and Canada is either a survivor of the Residential Boarding schools or has immediate family that are survivors. Thats how pervasive the kidnapping of Native children was and it lasted until 1979 in the United States and the 1990's in Canada. The award winning film Sugarcane highlights the impact one of these schools had on a Indigenous Nation and individuals and their families.
