ABOUT CINDY LAN

Cindy Lan is a performer and composer from Queens, NY. Adopting the viola in high school, she found a unique voice and expression in the instrument. A graduate of Skidmore College and the Eastman School of Music, she has always found herself in interdisciplinary spaces. Since 2019, she has explored the combination of voice, strings, and electronics in her project ‘Breath & Bow Meditations’. She has performed as a soloist with Orchestra Northern Arizona in 2021 and 2023. She is a 2023 recipient of the Queens Art Fund New Work grant for “Dots on Plates”, a concerto for viola, string ensemble, and percussion. Her string quartet, Ondine Quartet, is a 2024 Chamber Music America Ensemble Forward grantee. She performs with Isogram and is a contributing choreographer and performer for “Antonym: the opposite of nostalgia”, a work by Sugar Vendil, and performed at National Sawdust, Lincoln Center, and Movement Research at Judson with the ensemble. She is a pedagogue with over a decade of experience, and the Executive Director and co-principal violist of the Greenwich Village Orchestra.


ABOUT SARAH SONG

Cellist Sarah Song holds degrees from Indiana University, The Eastman School of Music, Queens College and is now pursuing Doctoral studies at The CUNY Graduate Center with Marcy Rosen.

Sarah prides herself on her pursuit for collaboration in all forms, appearing as a soloist, chamber musician and improviser. She is seen performing with artists from the Met Opera, Death of Classical, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, SEM Ensemble, Martha Graham Dance Company and can be heard in venues like Alice Tully Hall, Symphony Space, Flushing Town Hall, LGBTQ Center and The DiMenna Center.

Sarah is the recipient of The Chamber Music Live Award, winner of the 2020 Concerto Competition at Queens College, semi- finalist at the Coltman Chamber Competition and Classical Tahoe’s 2019 quartet fellow.

She is a founding member of the Ondine Quartet who recently were awarded the 2024 Chamber Music America Ensemble Forward grant. They are mentored by Todd Phillips from the Orion Quartet.

Sarah is an adjunct faculty at Long Island University and loves teaching Theory, Music and Culture and cello.
