✨ Oceňovaný kanadský skladatel Flore Laurentienne vystoupí 10. dubna poprvé v České republice v rámci festivalu Spectaculare. Za pseudonymem Flore Laurentienne stojí Mathieu David Gagnon, který spojuje rozsáhlé orchestrální zvuky s vintage analogovými syntezátory, a vytváří tak působivé kompozice na pomezí ambientu, filmové epiky a moderní klasiky. Jeho hudba, inspirovaná přírodou, časem a proměnlivostí světla, bývá přirovnávána k umělcům jako Stars of the Lid či Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, přesto si uchovává jedinečný rukopis – jemně melancholickou orchestrální poezii s duší severu.
✨ Flore Laurentienne ve své hudbě zachycuje divokou krajinu rodného Québecu. Jeho kompozice propojují mohutné smyčcové aranže s tóny raných analogových syntezátorů, čímž vytvářejí zvukový svět, jenž je současně monumentální i intimní. Gagnon pochází z Québecu, studoval vážnou hudbu ve Francii a po návratu spolupracoval jako producent s několika kanadskými experimentálními rockovými kapelami. Název projektu odkazuje na spisy biologa Marie-Victorina Kirouaca, který ve 30. letech minulého století mapoval flóru a faunu jižního Québecu. Stejně jako on, i Flore Laurentienne usiluje o to, zachytit krásu a magii přírody – tentokrát prostřednictvím hudby.
✨ Debutové album Volume 1 z roku 2019, věnované vztahu člověka a přírody, získalo nominaci na prestižní Polaris Music Prize a uspělo také v cenách Félix a Juno. Následná deska Volume 2 (2022) pak prozkoumává vodní toky jako metaforu lidské cesty životem. V Praze se tak 10. dubna představí jeden z nejoriginálnějších hlasů současné neoklasické scény – s hudbou, která dokáže alespoň na chvíli zastavit čas.

✨ Acclaimed Canadian composer Flore Laurentienne will perform for the first time in the Czech Republic as part of the Spectaculare Festival on April 10 at Palác Akropolis. Behind the moniker stands Mathieu David Gagnon, an artist who fuses sweeping orchestral sounds with vintage analog synthesizers, creating evocative compositions that move between ambient, cinematic soundscapes and modern classical music. His work, inspired by nature, time, and the shifting quality of light, has drawn comparisons to Stars of the Lid and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, yet it carries a distinct voice of its own – a delicate, melancholic orchestral poetry with the soul of the North.
✨ In his music, Flore Laurentienne captures the wild landscapes of his native Québec. His compositions blend majestic string arrangements with the warm tones of early analog synths, forming a sonic world that feels both monumental and deeply intimate. A classically trained musician who studied in France, Gagnon later returned to Québec to work as a producer for several Canadian experimental rock bands. The project’s name refers to the writings of biologist Marie-Victorin Kirouac, who documented the flora and fauna of southern Québec in the 1930s. Like him, Flore Laurentienne seeks to portray the beauty and mystery of nature — this time through music.
