Floor Barre Class Details:
Join our Floor Barre class to experience the advantages firsthand. It’s a longer class in three parts. Starting with Floor Barre on the floor, preparing the body for Barre work and Centre practice. The session spans 2 hours and consists of the following:
30 minutes of focused Boris Kniaseff floor Barre work.
30 minutes of traditional Barre exercises.
60 minutes of invigorating centre work.
Taught by Kim Amundsen, a seasoned dancer and instructor with over 12 years of teaching experience, our Floor Barre sessions are designed to enhance your turnout, flexibility, and core strength. Kim's approach involves individual alignment correction, addressing common mistakes, and catering to injuries or joint discomfort.
Boris Kniaseff Floor Barre Technique into Advanced Ballet:
Rooted in the technique developed by Boris Kniaseff, our Floor Barre classes offer a holistic approach with influences from ballet moves. Kniaseff's renowned "barre à terre" or "floor barre" method, known for its effectiveness, is employed alongside ballet principles to sculpt fine muscles, restore core strength, and centre.
Kim Amundsen, a graduate of the prestigious Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung:Ballet Academy Munich that belongs to the Bavarian state Ballet, boasts an extensive career with renowned ballet and Contemporary companies worldwide. Having trained with distinguished institutions and performed with acclaimed troupes like Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance, Ballet Ireland and many more. Kim's expertise extends to teaching Ballet, Contemporary dance, and Boris Kniaseff Floor Barre technique on a global and international stage.

Getting to the Acosta Dance Centre couldn’t be easier! As you plan your visit, don’t forget to check event times against TfL’s Journey Planner or Citymapper for the latest travel updates and times. Your journey to the Acosta Dance Centre will be as smooth and enjoyable as our dance performances.
BY CAR & ACCESSIBLE PARKING
Please note that there is no on-site parking at the Acosta Dance Centre so we recommend using public transport.
However, if you require to travel by car and or accessible parking, the Heritage Centre Car Park is a short 5-minute walk from our front doors. You can also use a public car park behind our building situated at Conrwallis Road SE18 (local charges apply).
Blue Badge holders can also park on designated double lines within the Royal Arsenal area for up to 3 hours.
ON FOOT
For those arriving by train, the Elizabeth line Woolwich Station (15 min from Tottenham Court Road and 20min from Bond )is just a 3-minute walk from our front doors, equipped with lifts, escalators, and stairs for easy access. Alternatively, the Woolwich Arsenal DLR and National Rail stations are approximately less than 7-minute walk away on Woolwich New Road.
If you prefer a scenic route, the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers RB1 service stops at the Woolwich (Royal Arsenal) pier, a mere 2-minute walk from the Acosta Dance Centre.
For cyclists, bike racks are conveniently available in our garden and outside Con Gusto restaurant at the end of No 1 Street.
