Artist Tara de las Casas is working with Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre and CECAS to deliver a series of sustainable artworks that will feature in the Skibbereen St Patrick’s Day Parade 2025.
In West Cork we have diverse habitats for our birds, with the vast coastline, rivers, marshes, fields, gardens and forests. At the beginning of spring the activity of birds reaches a vibrant peak as many species engage in courting rituals, nest building and feeding their young. Migratory birds return to our shores, adding to the chorus and enriching the landscape with their presence.
For this community art project we will come together to celebrate the natural wonder of our bird life in West Cork. Through a series of workshops inviting everyone from our local community, Tara will create sculptural representations of these winged wonders, using natural, reused and found materials.
