Floating Lantern Memorial

Experience the floating lantern release for the 3rd year at Graham Park fishing pond. Write a heartfelt message and decorate a lantern as a beautiful way to honor your loved one. We encourage family members, loved ones, and community members ot attend this meaningful event.

You will follow VITAS Healthcare signage to locate the event. Parking is available next to pond, and the area is handicap accessible. Light refreshments will be served.

Lanterns can be mailed prior to event if RSVP is received by 9/22/25 and arrangements are made with the host. Lanterns can be picked up M-F from 8a - 5p at our Cranberry Township office at 2009 Mackenzie Way, Suite 110 (between the Dick's Sporting Goods and Target) beginning 9/22/25 until10/2/25.

There is no limit to how many lanterns each family can receive and decorate.

This event is FREE to everyone that attends.

Info: Please do not arrive prior to 6pm. The first half hour of the event is reserved for people to arrive with traffic and busy schedules. This time can also be utilized to decorate your lantern, or to be with your family/friends reflecting on why you are there. There will be resource tables and light refreshments that can be enjoyed during this time.

Info: VITAS Healthcare staff members Amanda Olson (Bereavement Services Manager) and Donald Scandrol (Chaplain) will welcome the guests, do a brief reflection and memorial, and give instructions on where and how to release your lanterns.

Info: Release your lantern as we listen to meaningful music and reflect on the ones we are memorializing.

Info: We ask that you exit the event during this time so the staff are able to clean the space.

Info: VITAS Healthcare staff and volunteers will collect the lanterns from the pond by kayak, remove all LED candle lights, and bless the lanterns. The lanterns will be disposed of properly.
