Floating Island Launch Party

Clearwater Collective and Brainplate Grows invite you to help launch a floating island. The 4’ X 4’ floating habitat structure is loaded with around 50 aquatic plants whose roots will pull excess nitrogen and phosphorous from the Tenney lagoon. The goal is to reduce algae blooms and clean the water. The island also provides habitat for fish in the roots, and local pollinators in the flowers.
Saturdays event begins with a prelaunch float up from the Red Pine Coop (212 Merry Street). Anyone who is interested can meet at the bank of the Yahara River behind the Red Pine at 9 AM. For the official launch we will meet at Tenney Park, corner of Marston and Sherman ave, at 10 AM. Bring instruments, noisemakers and/or food and help celebrate!
