Hosted by Good Medicine and featuring DJ Konjo and DJ Kilusan's dreamy and cathartic music, FLIRT is a femme-forward dance party. At FLIRT, we encourage you to remember that our bodies are for movement and that This party is for hotties with care-centred politics, for queers that know how to fill a space with sexy possibilities, and for lesbians with rhythm!

WHO ARE WE?

We are Good Medicine/Sage and DJ Konjo/Mahlet! We are a (semi-retired) drag queen and DJ/artist duo. Whether prancing around in a wig or curating tunes, we have spent the last few years supporting Winnipeg's parties. We have also benefited from the intentional party spaces that Winnipeg can conjure up (looking at you, 2SQTBIPOC).

Much like you, dear reader and/or contributor, we want to see a resurgence of 2SQTBIPOC spaces in the city. As a Leo (Cancer Cusp) and Aries duo, we have dedicated months to creating FLIRT, intentionally, with care, and by bringing a team of queer people who love this community as much as we do! We created FLIRT to answer our collective prayers for safe, sexy, sapphic dance parties! We deserve safe, sexy, and sapphic dance parties and in pursuit of this, we have dedicated months to creating FLIRT intentionally and with care. FLIRT is for pleasure seekers that know how to get down with harm reduction. Winnipeg sapphics are hot. (See Ethics Statement below) And we are creating a space to celebrate it … We NEED to FLIRT.

WHERE ARE WE MEETING?

Come to FLIRT on September 5th from 9:00PM - 2:00AM at 114 Market Avenue!

TICKET PRICING AND SUPPORT TIER?

• $15 for Black, Indigenous, and racialized lesbians, queer and trans folks.
• $20 General Admission (white lesbians, queer and trans folks)
• Any amount to donate to the party if you are an ally, community member, and believe in FLIRT. These funds will cover the costs of paying for DJs, harm reduction supplies, non-violent intervention staff, door people, photographers and any additional costs

LISTEN DUDE, OUR PARTIES HAVE ETHICS

FLIRT is a space for femme 2SQTBIPOC folks to feel safe. We want our communities to show up for one another, care for another, and make sure that everyone can move their bodies freely without judgement, harm or violence. To achieve these goals, we all have a responsibility to collective ethics.

• Don’t be fxking weird. There is no tolerance for anti-Indigenous, anti-Black, racist, homophobic, sexist, ableist, fatphobic, misogynistic, or weirdo bullshit. Any form of oppression is not welcome.
• Respect peoples’ bodies and space. Consent is sexy.
• Harm reduction first. Substances can be fun, but know your body and remember that you’re in a shared space. Pace yourself, have a buddy, and keep an eye on each other.
• Masks are encouraged and are welcome! We love our COVID-cautious sapphics and protecting one another <3
• Security on site. Organizers will be wearing (TBD) Talk to an organizer if anything seems alarming. ACAB always, so before rushing through a situation, think with patience and focus on de-escalation.
• Movement is mandatory. Dance like no one is watching! Dance to feel one with yourself and your community!
• Lesbians are encouraged to make more than eye contact. Make out, make moves, and make a friend (or more)!
• Leave drama at home. No lesbian/queer nonsense. Take care of yourself!
• Phones are for finding your friends and getting home. Otherwise, leave 'em in your pocket. Stickers will be handed out at the beginning of the night to cover phone cameras. Film and digital photographers will be present.
