With k!nk being highlighted in media projects such as the 50 Shades of Grey franchise, Baby Girl (2024), Pillion (2025), and various “Spicy Romance” books, it's important to examine it in a realistic light. Join us in a class focusing on the differences and similarities in fantasy and reality while learning how to push back against the whimsical thinking of k!nky fiction. At the end of this class, you may be able to guide your vanilla friends into the wild world of k!nk more easily or correct people when they say they want to live inside a $mut book.
Topics will include:
- Media representations of k!nk and non-normative lifestyles
- Differences and similarities between fiction and reality
- Risk reduction in k!nk lifestyles
- Addressing and pushing back against pervasive narratives
This will be a seminar-style class taught by Mr Icarus that will include example media, a short lecture, and a moderated open-floor discussion.
