Learn how to turn a lovely sheep fleece into yarn that you can knit, crochet, or weave with.
About this Event

Curious about how to turn a lovely fleece you bought at a fiber festival into yarn that you can knit, crochet, or weave with? During this day long workshop, we’ll cover the steps involved in going from fleece to yarn (and maybe even a little bit beyond).

The morning session will cover how to choose a fleece, wash it, and prepare it for spinning (along with common issues encountered along the way). After lunch, we’ll practice more fiber preparation and jump into learning to spin yarn on a drop spindle. We’ll also talk about how you can use your finished yarn, as well as ways that you can modify it after spinning.

There will be a lunch break in the middle of the day, and students should be prepared to get at least a little bit messy (hands on practice with washing and preparing fiber will be part of the class). Class participants will get to take home their drop spindle and fiber (prepared for spinning using several methods).
