Triple bill evening of exceptional folk music, featuring Australia's Epic Folk Group The Heart Collectors, Mild Goose Chase and Folkknot.
THE HEART COLLECTORS:
From acoustic harmony lead ballads to Bowie-esque sonic soundscapes, Australian four piece ‘Epic Folk’ group The Heart Collectors capture the essence of inspiration, honesty of love, and the nature of the cosmos in their music. Merging the inspiration of 60’s and 70’s inspired folk and roots music, their latest sound has grown to include delicately played piano, atmospheric electric guitar, melodic banjo, bowed mandolin, and haunting cello. These instruments combine to create intimate acoustic harmony driven songs, catchy folk/pop themes, upbeat “epic anthems” and the cosmic tonalities heard in their current work.
MILD GOOSE CHASE:
Mild Goose Chase undoubtedly takes a unique approach to the typical folk duo. Nashville based Scott Peters and Winston-Salem, NC based Sam Amos pair cello and guitar together into a perfect bedrock for their rich vocal harmonies, lyrical songwriting, and exuberant improvisation. Whether flying through a raucous old-time rendition or floating through silky ballads, the pair’s musicianship shines across multiple instruments and genres. A dash of frailing banjo and other fretted surprises add variety and dimension to their unique sound. On stage, their mild demeanor assures that they never take themselves too seriously, even if their music might hint otherwise from time to time. Their debut album, A Tentative Debut released June 23, 2023.
FOLKKNOT: Folkknot is an acoustic folk rock band based in Greensboro, NC. At the heart of Folkknot is their unique instrumentation; acoustic guitar and three-part vocal harmonies are accompanied by accordion, cello, violin, viola, piano, and drums. The enchanting songwriting and lucid storytelling of frontman Grey Hyatt spans countless settings and time periods, and the band’s sound draws from folk traditions across the globe. From sing-along sea shanties to introspective storytelling to grand instrumental pieces, Folkknot gives an attentive listener the opportunity to get lost in a daydream of their own.
