Enjoy a relaxing break bird watching in Flamborough, Yorkshire. This section of the East Yorkshire coast is an internationally important area for breeding birds and is a staging post for migrants to rest and refuel. In April, the seabirds will be returning to nest on the dramatic cliffs around Flamborough Head and the RSPB site at Bempton Cliffs. This really is a haven with breeding seabirds starting to reappear at this time of year. We hope to spot many species including gannets, puffins, guillemots, razorbills, fulmars, kittiwakes, herring gulls and shags. Farmland birds such as skylarks, tree sparrows, linnets, meadow pipits and reed and corn buntings can also be seen. Porpoises can often be seen on calm days while early morning visits may provide sightings of roe deer.
We will take leisurely walks along the coastal paths stopping frequently to observe the birdlife and making use of several viewing platforms which give unbeatable access to the cliffs. On one day, weather permitting, we will take a boat trip from nearby Bridlington to see the birds from a different perspective below Bempton Cliffs. Your guide Madeline is a natural history expert and will share her incredible knowledge with you throughout the holiday. You are bound to be inspired by her enthusiasm and keen eye.
We will stay in Flamborough at a small family run B&B with a warm Yorkshire welcome. Breakfast and packed lunch are included and your guide will arrange to eat out locally each evening.
