Carver County Environmental Services and local non-profit A Better Society are teaming up again to bring more Fix-it Clinics to Carver County.During two successful events in 2022 volunteers helped attendees fix items that may have otherwise ended up being disposed of. These items included vacuums, clothing, small engines, bicycles, and a variety of other small household items. Events like these are a great opportunity not only to get items fixed and kept out of the landfill, but also foster community and discussion about waste reduction and the “throw-away” mentality.
At this event residents have an opportunity to sit down with a volunteer fixer to talk about their item and work together toward a repair. If an item cannot not be fixed, volunteers will try their best to diagnose the problem and provide the resident with part numbers, other repair options or recycling and disposal alternatives.
