Fitler Presents: Seeding Change | An Indie Film Series
About this Event
Two films. One question: what do we carry forward, and what does it take to keep the fight going?
For the next installment in our Impact Speaker Series comes our screening: Seeding Change — an indie film double feature that puts grassroots stories on the big screen. When we say "seeding change," we mean it literally and metaphorically: the work of planting something that will outlive us, and the people who show up season after season to tend it.
Together they ask what it really means to build — and to keep building — when the work is slow, unseen, and unfinished. Stick around after the screening for conversation, community, and a chance to meet the people doing the work.
Evening Highlights:
- Two short films produced local filmmakers
- Two engaging panel discussions
- Post-screening happy hour in the back bar
Short Film Lineup:
The Seeds We Carry, Directed by Gabrielle Patterson (30 min. runtime)
The Seeds We Carry is a short documentary weaving intimate portraits of community farm stewards in Southwest Philadelphia. Through the rhythms of planting, cooking, and sharing food, the protagonists reveal how everyday acts of care and resistance nurture belonging, forge cross-cultural kinship, and preserve a sense of home amid the pressures of displacement in a rapidly changing city.
La Lucha Sigue/The Fight Continues, Directed by Melissa Beatriz (23 min. runtime)
La Lucha Sigue (The Fight Continues) is a short animated documentary that centers three immigrant rights leaders who work to shut down the Berks Detention Center in Pennsylvania, one of three prisons nationwide that had detained immigrant children and families.
