Fitler Club Presents: Set Up to Win, The Role of Families in Student Succes
About this Event
Every parent wants their child to succeed in school, but the path from wanting that to making it happen isn't always clear. How do we build systems that truly support families so they can, in turn, support their students?
Join us for an evening with three of Philadelphia's most influential education leaders as they tackle this question head-on. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tony Watlington, Pennsylvania State Representative Jordan Harris, and Executive Director of the Penn Learning Network (PLN) at Penn GSE Dr. Lara Paparo, will sit down for a candid conversation on the critical role families play in driving student achievement. At the heart of this conversation we’ll explore what schools, policymakers, and communities need to do differently to set parents (and their children) up to win!
Expect a discussion that moves beyond ideas and into the practical such as how can schools meet parents where they are, what policy changes would make the biggest difference for Philadelphia families, and what does genuine family-school partnership look like in practice?
This event is open to educators, parents, community advocates, and anyone who believes that when families are set up to win, our students do too!
Doors open at 6:30 PM. The conversation begins at 7:00 PM, followed by a moderated Q&A and a networking reception with light refreshments.
