Please note: To participate in Forest Preserve programs, the public must follow current masking protocol.
We will keep the gates open late at Rock Run Rookery for a special evening of fishing after dark. Fish activity is often greater at night, when our finned friends are more active. Bring your favorite fishing pole and bait for a chance to shoreline fish after normal preserve hours. Staff will be onsite to greet you at check-in.
The preserve will be dark, so anglers are encouraged to bring a flashlight and bug repellent. No boats will be allowed in the water after dark.
Fee: Free!
Age: Ages 16 or older.
Registration required by Tuesday, October 12, by calling 815.727.8700 or online: https://apm.activecommunities.com/fpdwc/Activity_Search/fishing-in-the-dark/7837
Some paths are accessible; other areas of shoreline are on natural surfaces over uneven terrain. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online (https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/americans-with-disabilities-act-information) no later than 48 hours before the program.
