Fish skin tanning workshop

Learn the fundamentals of bark tanning by transforming locally sourced fish skins into a supple, leather-like material with Imogen McRae.
Fish skins are a beautiful and accessible material to tan, while the same knowledge and principles can also be applied to larger hides - making this a wonderful place to begin your tanning journey.
Over the six hours, you’ll finish fish skins that have been bark tanning over the previous week, and also prepare fresh skins to begin tanning in bark tea and take home to complete in your own time. This means you’ll experience each stage of the process required to transform raw fish skins into a finished material ready to use in your own projects at home.
