California Fish and Game Commission meeting in Sacramento to discuss how the Decadal Management Review petitions will be broken into actionable parts and also they will consider or deny our New Petition 2024-10. The California Sea Urchin Commission is opposed to our new petition because they said that they considered giving urchins away for free to still be considered commercial and they don't think Jon's air lift design is exclusively
commercial method. Neither of these arguments hold water. We need to argue this before the commission and we will need
your support.
Details of our new petition 2024-10:
We are asking to use an urchin air lift to remove urchins. Working with Jon Holcomb, a red urchin fisherman in Fort Bragg, we discovered a better way to remove urchins that is 15 times more efficient than culling them with a hammer.
