Celebrate the arrival of summer with the booming rhythms of taiko! Taiko means "great drum" in Japanese and has played a role in many aspects of traditional culture in Japan, from warefare, to religious observances, to theatre. Synchronized percussion performances are especially associated with summertime festivals.
Members of Austin Taiko will visit SAMA to share this exciting performance art during our First Tuesday celebration.
