First-Time Homebuyer's Class 2025 (VIRTUAL)

*Please note that the class has a $50 fee, but thanks to grant funding, it is currently being offered at no cost until the grant funds are fully utilized.*

This is an 8 hour HUD-certified course recommended for all clients interested in becoming homeowners. Upon completion of the class, participants receive a Certificate of Completion valid for 12 months, a requirement for certain down payment assistance programs and mortgage lenders.

Clients attending the class will learn about various home buying topics, including:

• Are you ready to buy a house?
• Managing Your Money
• Understanding Credit
• Obtaining a Mortgage Loan
• Shopping for a Home
• Protecting Your Investment
• D ownpayment Assistance Programs

The class instructor will assist clients in navigating the technical aspects of the home buying process, such as preparing to qualify for a mortgage loan, finding suitable financing, assembling their home buying team, reviewing essential closing documents, and, if applicable, applying for down payment assistance programs.

Included in the cost of the class is the opportunity for clients to receive an individual homebuyer counseling appointment. These 1.5-hour counseling sessions are conducted privately with a HUD certified Housing Counselor, assisting clients in their personal journey towards homeownership. Appointments are available Mondays through Fridays via phone, Zoom, or in-person.

Upon registration completion via DocuSign, participants will receive an email containing essential documents and the Zoom link for the class.

The full-day class runs from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with a 45-minute lunch break at noon. Active participation throughout the day is mandatory to qualify for the Certificate of Completion.

Avenue's Homebuyer Education Book is provide with your ticket. You can opt to pick up a hard copy at Avenue Center or pay a shipping fee for delivery.

Issued the following Monday after completing the Homebuyers' Education Class. For Wednesday classes, certificates will be available on Thursday.
