Our amazingly talented hand sewing teacher, Elizabeth Martin of Tiny Art Garage, is bringing you one of our most popular classes in a summer series on first Sundays! You can sign up for one class, or choose to return for more guidance, camaraderie, and dedicated time to sit & stitch in the beautiful light of our front windows. Such a lovely way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon!
Elizabeth will give you an introduction to Sashiko stitching, and help you learn how to create your own Sashiko projects. You’ll notice the difference between Sashiko thread & embroidery floss, become familiar with Sashiko needles and tools, learn a few different ways to start and finish, and explore different motifs. There’s an endless array of stitch configurations, and this method of sewing is especially beautiful for mending precious cloth objects.
Some materials provided, more available for purchase! Elizabeth has curated a stellar selection of Sashiko supplies in the shop, with her favorite needle, threads, and thimbles, along with some really great stitch kits and printed Sashiko cloth. We've got everything you need to get set up with your new stitching obsession!
Beginner friendly! 2 hours, one Sunday $45, two Sundays $85
