Hailing from the soulful heart of Memphis, Tennessee, Deborah Swiney is a singer songwriter and jazz vocalist whose voice seamlessly blends the sophistication of the
Great American Songbook with the sultry, rhythmic textures of Brazil. Often described
as a "chanteuse" with a honey-dipped tone, Swiney has carved out a unique space in the contemporary jazz scene, drawing on a rich musical pedigree that includes years touring as a backing vocalist for the legendary Al Green.
Beyond the stage, Deborah is dedicated to preserving and promoting jazz in Memphis.
She is the founder and curator of the acclaimed Sunset Jazz at Court Square concert series, which has become a beloved showcase for the city’s outstanding jazz musicians.
Her contributions to music and the community have been recognized with honors including the Memphis Black Arts Alliance Jazz A-Fire Living Legends Award, the W.C.
