Designed for children ages 4 to 9, *First Stitches* is a beginner-friendly sewing program. Young participants will explore both hand sewing and introductory machine sewing.Registration is required for this class, due to availability of materials.
This class will run six weeks; our plan is teaching hand-sewing skills to children ages 4 to 9 with the end goal of making a simple hand-sewn tote bag and Softie. The plan gradually builds motor skills, basic sewing techniques, and confidence through age-appropriate activities.
Age Range: 4–9 years
Project Goal: Complete a small hand-sewn tote bag and Softie
Duration: 6 weeks, 1 session per week (45–60 minutes each)
Skills Covered: Threading a needle, running stitch, backstitch, tying knots, fabric handling, safety
