First Peoples Artist & Creative Wellbeing Series for Mob

Arts Merri-bek invite First Peoples (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) who are engaged in any artistic practice or working in the arts to a series of workshops and gatherings aimed at building community connections through creative practice. Guided by a social and emotional approach to wellbeing and led by Arkie Barton, a Bidjara/Kalkadungu artist, mental wellbeing and arts worker, the workshops will lead participants through activities and yarns to strengthen connection to self, community and practice.

There are a total of three events in this series:

• Workshop 1: Saturday 11 April 2026, 1:30pm to 4:00pm
• Workshop 2: Sunday 26 April 2026, 1:30pm to 4:00pm
• Community Gathering: Saturday 23 May 2026, 2:00pm to 5:00pm

About

Workshops 1 & 2 are designed to be smaller capacity where participants will connect with each other through guided activities, strengthening individual wellbeing in a setting that explores the shared experiences of Mob creatives.

The Community Gathering has increased capacity, inviting artists and creatives into a more dynamic space where shared experiences in the creative industries as First Peoples can be explored to understand how we can collectively support your creative practices.
