Parkinson’s Artisans is a nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to creating opportunities that provide therapeutic and life enrichment benefits to persons with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) via involvement in the arts. As a part of its programming, Parkinson’s is creating a choral group which will sing popular and traditional songs, from the Beatles to Bach and everything in between.
Singing has shown to be effective in mitigating some physical/cognitive effects of Parkinson’s Disease. By actively participating in our chorus, you should experience improvement in
- Voice strength and quality
- Fine motor control - Concentration
Most of all you will have fun making good music!!!
Rehearsals begin in October in Dunedin and occur once a week for approximately two hours.
Membership in the chorus is open to people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers. All materials are provided. There is no cost to be a member.
