First Nations Cultural Safety + Cultural Sovereignty has been carefully curated to deepen understanding of the relationship between cultural safety, cultural sovereignty and self-determination, and what this means for organisations seeking to create meaningful and lasting change.
Building on the foundations established in Self Determination: Treaty + Truth + Voice, this summit examines how cultural safety and cultural sovereignty shape the environments, systems and leadership required to support genuine self-determination.
Key speakers, Prof Richard J Frankland will examine why cultural safety cannot be achieved through awareness alone, and Prof Mark Rose AM will present why recognising and upholding First Nations cultural sovereignty is fundamental to creating environments where First Nations peoples determine what is culturally safe.
Participants will move beyond compliance and cultural capability to explore the practical shifts required to embed cultural safety across workplaces, services and governance. Through lived experience, strategic insight and practical application, the summit will challenge participants to consider how organisational culture, leadership and decision-making can better reflect First Nations authority, knowledge and ways of being.
Arranyinha has intentionally designed this Summit to support organisational leaders, government and their teams to move from cultural awareness to cultural accountability, strengthening their capability to create environments where First Nations peoples feel culturally safe because First Nations cultural sovereignty is recognised, respected and upheld.
This event will be held in the Moonah Forrest (aka the Open House) at the Geelong Arts Centre.
