First Fridays at The Forum featuring Seven Hollows
From the scenic Natural State, Seven Hollows takes their name and influence from the beautiful outdoors. The duo is rooted in indie folk and classic/psychedelic rock, reflecting influences from their favorite artists while discovering their own sound- blurring lines between genres and pairing interesting melodies with thoughtful lyrics.
Seven Hollows's music comes from their experiences through life's mundane and extraordinary journeys. The duo consists of Jon Jones and Kimberly Ruthanne. Together, they've traversed love, heartbreak, mental health struggles, a pandemic, and loss. Music is their escape, expression, healing, and common ground. With a deep appreciation for the influence of time's decoration, they pour themselves into their music and lyrics to create an emotionally engaging experience.

Jon
When Jon was twelve, he fell in love with the guitar after his brother showed him some chords one night. Thirty years later, and his love for the instrument has developed into a successful career as a musician.
Jon grew up listening to bands like Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, and Pink Floyd- all influencing his playing style. As a young musician, he happily played lead for a number of rock bands. A few years before his son was born, Jon took some time off from music, hardly picking up his guitar. This break lasted almost ten years, ending when an old bandmate asked if he could fill in in for their lead guitarist. The spark was reignited.
Once Jon was playing again, he started to expand his skills and style, becoming interested in fingerpicking and singing. This led him to revisit early influences like Lindsey Buckingham, Eric Clapton, Jim Croce, and Jimmy Page. He's since played alongside a number of talented musicians, and established a successful career as a solo artist. It was during this time Picture
Kim
Since she was young, Kim has had a deep emotional connection with music. One of her first memories from childhood is running to her uncle for comfort when thunder struck too close one night, causing the electricity to go out. The Eagles softly serenaded her with "Hotel California" from a small, battery radio as she was rocked back to sleep.
Once she learned to use her voice, she began entertaining- and perhaps, annoying- everyone around her as she sang her way through life. If she wasn't making up a ditty as she went, she'd spontaneously interject song into conversation if something said reminded her of a tune. Music helped her get through tough situations, process hard emotions, and connect with people and places in time that often no longer existed.
Like many children, she dreamed of being a rockstar one day. Those dreams evolved as she developed her own taste in music, discovering bands like The Avett Brothers, Wild Child, and Lucius. As an adult, she's taken her appreciation for music and applied it, learning to play the ukulele and keyboard, as well as writing lyrics and melodies for songs. When she met Jon, they bonded over their shared love for music, and realized that working together came naturally.
