Visitors to the Artists Cooperative Gallery in the historic train station are invited to view the exhibit ‘What If…? Artists Exploring”. Where artist members explore their own forays into new creative territories. Featuring artists Carol Mossa shares photographs and commentary from the artist’s cross-country travels and Dan Marantz, exhibits his functional objects and furniture in wood. the United in Arts Community Gallery will feature works of Cadence O’Neil, winner of the “Art It Forward” Scholarship awarded to a Westerly High School Senior.
Over at AiR Studio Gallery, at 19b Railroad Avenue, their exhibition ‘Peace of Work” showcases new abstract paintings by Theresa Girard and sculptures by Richard Abarno. Theresa’s large paintings envelop you with color, line and texture. Richard’s sculptures lead viewers on a whimsical journey of curiosity where animals take on anthropomorphic qualities and everyday objects are imbued with playful charm.
On Canal Street at Westerly Camera & Darkroom, ‘Two if by Sea’ an exhibit of photographs by Tim Doherty explores the industrial landscape of commercial shipping ports, inviting the view to find a visual appreciation for graphic aspects of cargo ships, shipping containers, and working vessels.
At the United Theatre in partnership with the Mystic Aquarium, the exhibit “Coral Canvas: Art for Ocean’s Sake,” continues in the gallery, and brings attention to the global threats faced by coral reef ecosystems. A growing, vibrant coral reef composed of pieces of plastic waste was created through community art workshops facilitated by local artist Elizabeth Ellenwood.
