Artist/Show Info:

Adrian Smith, an alumnus of the Art Students League of New York, has always been captivated by the ethereal beauty of water. His journey into painting oceanscapes began with a vivid dream in which he witnessed breathtaking, serene waters. This dream ignited a profound passion within him, compelling him to translate the essence of these waters onto canvas. Smith’s work is deeply intertwined with the metaphorical and spiritual connotations of water. He sees water as a powerful symbol of life’s fluidity and the divine presence within nature. Through his paintings, Smith aspires to reflect the magnificence of God’s creation in an organic and authentic manner. “I want my work to resonate with the viewer, allowing them to feel the presence of God through the depiction of water’s serene beauty,” Smith explains. “Each brushstroke is a step towards capturing the divine essence that water embodies.” In his oceanscapes, Smith aims to evoke a sense of tranquility and spiritual reflection, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the sublime interplay of light and water. His art serves as a bridge between the earthly and the spiritual, offering a glimpse into the boundless wonders of the natural world.

Rebeka Sweetland is an Indianapolis-based maker with a BFA in painting and a BA in ceramics. She has possessed a life-long passion of expression through the act of creation. Sweetland's compositions are a contemplation and documentation of the ethereal here on Earth. The spiritual nature of her work strives to capture glimpses of the often unknowable nature of the Divine. Her role as a mother informs, inspires, and fuels her desire to create in this ever-changing world. "I am intrigued with the interweaving of the physical human experience with our inner psyche and as such, I invite the viewer to both see and feel beyond the surface. I explore both personal subjects and narrative topics, but through my medium I make it relatable. My hope is that my audience will not just see myself and my story, but also themselves mirrored back."

Together, these artists unite with an invitation to the viewer to envelope themselves into a world of divine and spiritual reflection, through their diverse variety of media and content.
