I’ve been creating things since I was a child. My art training came through a couple of art classes at Newton High, a year with a professional artist in Anchorage, and a few of classes at the University in Fairbanks.
When I first moved to Alaska in the early 70’s, I had never seen such beautiful country in my travels as a railroad brat or military dependent. There is a perfect scene for painting wherever you go. After returning to Alaska in 2007, I started painting again. Art has given me a fun way to express myself and I’m striving to be able to do my art full time while I’m still young.
Since moving back to my Kansas roots, I’ve worked to add the awesome uniqueness we love about Kansas to my repertoire. I hope anyone who sees my work can see and embrace my love for both Alaska and Kansas.
I’ve done numerous gallery showings, bazaars, art fairs & these items have been available in such places as the FAI Art Assoc Cabin, the Bear Gallery, Rika’s Roadhouse, the Blue Door Antiques, the Ornamentary and the Smiling Moose in Alaska and in Newton’s Norm’s Coffee Shop, Newton City Library, Plum St. Cottage and the Carriage Factory Gallery, Hutchison’s Art Center, El Dorado’s Coutt’s Museum and Lindsborg’s Courtyard Gallery, as well as numerous craft fairs around the area.
