Mark your calendars! July’s First Friday—happening on Friday, July 7—celebrates Disability Pride month, which marks the anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. Visitors who are Deaf and hard of hearing are invited to kick off the event with a special happy hour in partnership with DEAF Inc. Then, visitors of all ages and abilities are welcome to enjoy a card-making activity with artist Jennifer Allie Friedrich, whose arts advocacy platform Criptonite Arts aims to empower individuals, families, and communities to reverse the negative stigma of “disabilities'' and to promote the power of “possibilities.” Representatives from organizations from St. Louis’s disability justice community will be present throughout the evening.
