Heeee's baaack! Charlie Schmidt, our favorite bohemian, has a new exhibit of "Thrift Store Art," and the best part is our own Kirk Phillips is joining him in their common quest to make Thrift Store paintings and objets d'art classier than they were ever meant to be.
Schmidt describes it this way, "As a thrift store artist in a small town, prepping for your big show is like starring in a sitcom that nobody asked for. You’re out here trying to turn a $1 chipped ashtray into an avant-garde centerpiece and the town gossip mill is buzzing that either you are a genius or just hoarding junk. The real laugh? When you hang your recycled masterpiece in the community center, and ole’ Mrs. Jenkins tries to barter her famous rhubarb pie for it, insisting it’d look “just darling” next to her cat figurine collection. At the show half the crowd’s debating if your art’s worth more than the thrift store’s entire inventory, while the other half is just there for the free Twinkies."
