Bob Craig: I have always had an interest in drawing and painting since I was very young. I am self-taught for the most part but took inspiration from artists such as: Van Gogh (color), Winslow Homer (watercolor technique), Mary Cassant (portraits), and fellow local artists.I work primarily with gourds and tiles and have tried my hand at mixed media, acrylic, watercolor, oil, and ink drawing. I have shown at local galleries in the past, including the Art Guild, the PSMA Gallery (no longer open) and have shown at the Colorado State Fair, placing second in 2019, Mixed media. I hope you enjoy my work.
Richard Burnett: Richard began his career as an artist at the age of 7 when he was given a paint by number kit, which quickly led to creating watercolor artworks of his own. They included, but were not limited to, landscapes of his beloved Colorado Mountains and their abundant wildlife. Growing up, Richard's mother made sure he always had plenty of "canvases " to create his masterpieces. When in high school he painted a mural on the wall of his high school's swimming pool, which remains to this very day. He went on to study art at the University of Southern Colorado and became proficient in many media. But Richard was born with an innate ability to teach. With genuine kindness and skill he transformed the beginner into a truly skilled artist, inspiring his passion for the arts with young and old alike. However, pure joy to Richard, comes in beholding the awe and wonderment in another's eyes when seeing his beautiful artworks.
John Valdez: My name is John Valdez. I have been studying oil painting for ten years. Along the way, I have taken various classes from outstanding artists including Anita Louise West (Santa Fe) and Laura Riley (Colorado Springs) . My experiences with them have been encouraging and supportive. I find landscape scenes most enjoyable and relaxing to paint. Mother Nature is truly special, I could never copy or replicate what she creates. I prefer to say, "this is my interpretation."
"At some point in life the world's beauty becomes enough. You don't need to photograph, paint, or even remember it. It is enough." Toni Morrison. As an outdoors person, who enjoys fly fishing, photography and hiking, I never miss the opportunity to take note. Every scene is soulful.
