Snowshoe to the Smith Gap warming hut in Mount Spokane State Park
About this Event

Participants will snowshoe west along the Lower Kit Carson Loop Road to Smith Gap and the snowshoe hut which was completed in 2014. Along the way, participants will traverse through a beautiful old growth cedar-hemlock forest and pass several stream crossings. Snacks will be provided at the trailhead. Roundtrip, this hike is 2.6 miles.

THINGS TO BRING: Snowshoes, waterproof or water-resistant boots, gators or waterproof pants, trekking poles, sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks and water.

WHERE TO MEET: Meet in the Lower Kit Carson Loop Road parking lot at the first hairpin turn. Address for the Mount Spokane State Park office is 26107 N Mount Spokane Park Dr, Mead, WA 99021

RESTRICTIONS: Dogs are welcome on this hike but must be on leash at all times.

While January 1st is a Discover Pass Free Day, the Free Day does not apply to Sno-Parks. A Daily Sno-Park Permit ($25) or combination of Seasonal Sno-Park Permit ($50) and Seasonal Special Groomed Sticker ($70) are required to park in the Selkirk Lodge parking lot. Passes can be purchased at the Mount Spokane State Park office/kiosk.
