About this Event

Join Us for First and Quirky Brixton!

To celebrate what would have been the 80th birthday of David Bowie we visit the town where he was born and see that house he once lived in. This walk is alson bout regeneration and re-gentrification. Did you know it has its own currency? Brixton has an amazing ‘vibe’, street art and some very diverse firsts all which happened in a small area. It also has some amazing markets. Some of the other famous people have lived in Brixton include Sharon Osborne, Max Wall, John Mayor and Freddie ‘Parrot faced’ Davies (remember him!) So many famous house hold stores originated from the area. It also has many political firsts. It even has own windmill (although we won’t be visiting that)! There are of course some cultural and topical firsts especially around the Windrush Square area where the walk will end.

• Start: Brixton Underground station

• End: Windrush Square
