This event is part of "The First Amendment: What Does It Mean Today?", a series of programs presented by the Ridgefield First Principles Committee.
Renowned Ridgefield author, journalist, and film producer Todd Brewster will moderate a panel discussion with esteemed First Amendment experts and advocates. They will discuss free speech and how it relates to media, social media, and public discourse, examining these platforms and the power and responsibility (or lack thereof) private companies have over the exchange of information and ideas. The panel will also explore the role of public libraries as a protector and safe haven for the First Amendment.
Registration on the Library website is required.
The "First Amendment" series of programs is presented by the partners of the Ridgefield First Principles Committee: the Ridgefield Library, League of Women Voters of Ridgefield, Ridgefield Historical Society, Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center, and the Drum Hill Chapter of the DAR. Programs currently scheduled as in-person may be changed to virtual events depending on CDC and Town/State guidance at the time.
