BASIC FIRST AID FOR FEET: Full one day course aimed at those treating the emergency lame cow on farm.Instructors: Sara Pedersen of Farm Dynamics and Sulwyn Jenkins, Professional hoof trimmer
The course will cover the following:
- Basic anatomy of the foot/landmarks
- Tools for the job (including knife sharpening)
- Mobility scoring overview
- Recognition of main lesions causing lameness
- Handling, lifting and examination of a foot
- Introduction to the 5-step trimming method
- Treatment protocols: block choice and NSAID administration
- Practical lesion treatment/blocking
Cost: £300 + Vat per person. Eligible for 80% funding through Farming Connect. Contact your Development Officer to apply for funding approval.
