Seminar Information

This seminar aims to equip relevant stakeholders such as building owners, occupiers, managing agents and fire safety practitioners with practical knowledge on fire safety requirements. Topics will cover detecting common fire safety infringements, key fire safety requirements and the required compliance actions. The seminar is designed to help participants develop robust fire safety management strategies to enhance building fire safety and promote proactive fire risk management in line with regulatory standards.

Speaker’s Profile

MAJ (Retired) Azmi’s last appointment in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), prior to his retirement on 4 July 2018, was the Head of Fire Safety & Investigation Branch of the Civil Defence Academy(CDA). He has 36 years of work experience and a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the field of firefighting, rescue, hazmat, fire safety, emergency planning and fire investigation. He was pivotal in the drafting of the Fire Safety Act and its enactment in 1993 and played an active role in its review in 2013. Prior to his posting to CDA he was the Senior Assistant Director of the Central Enforcement Department in HQ SCDF. As the Senior Assistant Director, he was responsible to ensure the effective and efficient operation and management of all matters of the Enforcement and Prosecution Branch which includes the regulating and enforcing of fire safety in buildings, petroleum and flammable materials and CD Shelter requirements in accordance to the provisions of the Fire Safety Act and Civil Defence Shelter Act. Azmi is a Fellow member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) and has completed two terms allowable as the elected President of IFE (UK) Singapore Branch FY2014/2016 and 2016/2018. Azmi is also a Certified FSM.
