About this Event
Join herbalist, Lesley Vernon, of Appalachian Alchemy for her most cherished workshop of the year, Fire Cider! There is something special about gathering around a table with your community, sharing stories, wisdom, and making herbal medicine together. π«
Prepare for the colder months ahead by learning how to create this herbal tonic that has been a staple in apothecaries since the 1980s. This super immune boosting preparation is a powerful anti-viral loaded with high doses of vitamin C used to prevent cold and flu or shorten the duration if symptoms are already present. If you have one herbal remedy in your fall/winter arsenal, make it fire cider.
In this hands-on workshop you will
- Review the History of Fire Cider and its many uses
- Create your own quart to take home
- Explore various traditional recipes
- Learn many ways to use and prepare fire cider & herbal vinegars
- Proper dosage
- Sample Fire Cider and oxymels
β¨ Leave with a fully detailed worksheet with class outline & notes, herb monographs, recipes, book recommendations, and more.
*Participants please bring a cutting board, sharp knife (big one) and a quart size mason jar with lids. All other supplies will be provided.
If you already know how to make fire cider, I still encourage you to come out on this special day to create some with your community. We always have such a blast. Come learn and play.

Using intuition and Wise Woman traditions, I create potent herbal products in small batches with love, intention, and reverence. I use the highest quality plant material that is almost all local and all organically grown or wildcrafted. Each herb is harvested at peak potency and carefully crafted into safe, simple, and effective herbal products.
Herbal medicine is and always will be the medicine of the people. This is our traditional medicine passed down through generations of healers and not just "alternative medicine." I promote education, empowerment, and easy accessibility to use these ancient plant traditions to care for ourselves, our families, and our community. Plant medicine is not learned, it is remembered and awakened deep from within. Plant medicine connects us back to the land, our roots, and back to a more simple place of love.
