UTC-04:00Location
Festival Tower Condominium | Toronto, ON
Synopsis
A screen adaptation by director Mika Kaurismäki of Finnish author Tuomas Kyrö’s latest novel about lifelong grouch, who this time does the unthinkable and falls in love. A chance encounter in the supermarket leads him to Saimi, who is a free spirit ready to challenge his set-in ways. Family and friends have their different views on romance at an advanced age, and yes there will be twists and turns in this love story.
Mika Kaurismäki’s earlier film adaptation of a Grump novel, The Grump: In Search of an Escort was seen at Nordic Nights in 2023 and Long Good Thursday keeps looking at life with the same gentle humour.
Winner of Audience Choice Award at Chigaco International Film Festival
