Finger Cymbals and Middle Eastern Drumming Workshop
Join us for an immersive workshop exploring the vibrant world of Middle Eastern rhythms! In this 90 minute session, we will dive into the art of playing finger cymbals (zills) and the basics of Middle Eastern drumming. You’ll learn the fundamentals of technique, rhythmic patterns, and how to synchronize your movements with live percussion.
Discover how finger cymbals can enhance your dance, adding layers of musicality and expression to your performance. We will also explore some of the most popular Middle Eastern rhythms and how they fit within the context of dance. Whether you’re a dancer wanting to strengthen your musicality or a percussionist eager to expand your skills, this workshop will equip you with the tools to play with confidence and creativity.
No prior experience necessary—just bring your energy and love for rhythm! Bring finger cymbals. Drummers are welcome to bring a doumbek, darbuka, or frame drum. I do have some finger cymbals and drums for loan.
