Dr. Laticia Hequembourg's lecture will be on The Importance of Visual Arts Education and Development: Dissection of the Contributions by K-12 Visual Art.
Dr. Hequembourg is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Education here at IU South Bend. Her previous roles include graduate-level instruction at The Art of Education University including teaching visual arts for art teachers pursuing a master’s in the topic. Her BA in studio art with an art education certification is from The State University of New York and her MEd in art edication is from St. Michael’s College. She earned her Ph.D. in education from Auburn University focusing on arts-based qualitative research design and exploration of the creative process.
Dr. Hequembourg’s lecture will seek to discuss her own educational and professional background in teaching K-12 art education, as well as the current climate and research concerns that exist among creative inquiry and visual arts as they are implemented and advocated for in the K-12 art classroom.
This event is free. Parking for the Louise E. Addicott and Yatish J. Joshi Performance Hall is located on the east side of campus in the upper parking lot in between the parking garage and Northside Hall off of 20th street.
