Finding Your Place in the Profession: A Focus on Diversity and Inclusion

The SYLA is delighted to invite our members to an in‑person panel discussion on Thursday 14 May 2026, exploring how aspiring and young lawyers from underrepresented groups can find support, community, and empowering role models within the legal profession. Attendees are welcome to arrive from 5:30pm, with the panel beginning promptly at 6:00pm.

This session brings together an inspiring panel of leaders and advocates working to advance diversity and inclusion across the profession. Our speakers include:

• Jodie Hill – Founder of Thrive Law, Employment Lawyer, and Neurodiversity Advocate
• Elaine MacGlone – Equality and Diversity Manager at the Law Society of Scotland
• Seonaid Stevenson‑McCabe – Lecturer in Law at Glasgow Caledonian University and member of the Women in Law Project
• Dr Naeema Sajid – Founder of Diversity+
• Arnold Masayila - Scottish Ethnic Minorities Lawyers Association (SEMLA)

Together, they will share personal journeys, practical guidance, and insights on building supportive networks and overcoming barriers within the legal community. This event offers an invaluable opportunity to learn, connect, and feel seen within the profession, whether you are at the very start of your legal journey or already navigating your early career.
