4:30PM: , 2015, dir. Yoshihiro FUKAGAWA, 107 min. ()
Morii Kyoichi (Issey Ogata), a retired school principal, lives alone after the death of his wife. One day, the strait-laced and narrow-minded Morii is visited by Mie, the stray cat his late spouse loved. He tries to shoo her away, but when she suddenly fails to show up, he gets worried and begins to look for her. This heartwarming drama features his search which leads him through the town’s streets and connects him with his fellow townsfolk, showing him that love and memories are shared, and that he's not alone.
Admission to the screening is free but registration is required due to limited space inside the classroom. Students can opt to purchase snacks and beverages made by Japan House interns prior to the film starting.
Please note the location is at Classroom 331 of the School of Art + Design, NOT Japan House!
Doors open at 4pm, movie showing starts at 4:30pm.
Japan House's programming is partially supported by grant funding from the Illinois Arts Council through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
