Finding Balance on the Blackwater Kayak Tour

Join FPAN in discovering history and ecology on one of Florida's most beautiful waterways!

This tour will last approximately two hours; participants will be traveling at a leisurely pace approximately 1.6 miles down the Blackwater River in a loop.

Tour participants will meet at 9:30am at the Bagdad Mill Site Park Kayak Launch (6952 Cross Street, Milton, FL 32583) for a safety briefing and an introduction before we set out on the water. There is limited parking available at the Bagdad Mill Site Park Kayak Launch, but plenty of parking is available at the Bagdad Mill Site Park located right next to the launch area. Participants can offload watercraft at the kayak launch. If there aren't enough parking spots at the launch, participants can plan to park vehicles next door at the main park and take a short walk through the trail that connects both.

Although we recommend kayaks for this tour, any non-motorized watercraft is welcome (canoes, stand-up paddle boards, etc.). All participants are required to bring their own watercraft. Additional recommended gear should include sun protection, water, and snacks (if desired). Participants will be asked to fill out a liability waiver on site in order to participate in the tour.

This event is open to the public, but RSVPs are required. Space is limited to 15 participants.

This tour is offered for free, but cash donations at the end of the tour are much appreciated and help us continue to offer other amazing learning opportunities!

This tour is recommended for ages 13+; participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
