One area of service for librarians is in helping potential authors identify journals that are a good match for a particular manuscript. This session will give an overview of practical approaches to best find a match, based on manuscript content as well as consideration of the author’s needs and expectations. It will give an overview of metrics, such as journal impact factor, that help to quantify a journal’s reputation; introduce tools and strategies to identify journals that are in scope and discuss ways to evaluate a journal for questionable or predatory publishing practices.
